“Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
Why do devotions? First, devotional time helps you to get closer to God. Finding out new things and ideas about God are what make having devotions exciting! But, what if your devotional time is not exciting? What if you don't feel like you are getting closer to God? Second, devotions may help to answer that question - studying the Bible gives us clues on how to live the Christian life. It is possible that there are things in our lives that are keeping us away from God, or hindering our ability to hear Him. Not doing devotions is like trying to pass a test without even taking the class! Third, quiet time set apart for God helps to calm our fears and worries, and prayer lets us give our heartaches over to God. Sometimes we need a devotional time just to quiet down and calm down and listen to what God has to say, instead of running around trying to solve all of our problems ourselves. The following sections provide online devotions that can be used with minimal effort while providing thought provoking messages and references to the Bible.
